Peter Norfolk, Great Britain’s world no 2, successfully defended his paralympic title in Beijing, beating Sweden's Johan Andersson of Sweden 6-2 6-2.
The 47 year old, who was left paraplegic following a motorcycle accident aged 19, had already claimed bronze in the Quad doubles event with Jamie Burdekin. Over 9,000 spectators packed the Centre Court at the Olympic Green Tennis Centre to watch the finals.
Norfolk said he was delighted to repeat his success in Athens 'The atmosphere out there was the best I've ever played in," said Norfolk, from Alton, Hampshire.'
Peter Norfolk also won bronze in the quad doubles with James Burdekin beating Bas Van Erp & Dorrie Timmermans-Van Hall in the third/fourth play-off 6-7(4) 7-5 6-1.
